After many days of consumers eagerly awaiting 4G networks, there is finally a carrier officially deploying it. On December 12th, Viettel was the first carrier to test 4G service in Vung Tau, while two other major carriers are rushing to deploy this month. In this article, 3gwifi.net will introduce the progress of Viettel's 4G network deployment in Vietnam.
Speaking with VnExpress, a representative of the Military Telecommunications Corporation (Viettel) stated that from December 12th, they will begin testing 4G service in Ba Ria Vung Tau province, more than a month after receiving the license from the Ministry of Information and Communications.

Viettel announced that it has invested in nearly 200 base stations covering the entire residential area of Vung Tau City, Ba Ria City, and Long Dien district. Subscribers will receive free SIM card upgrades from the carrier. The 4G speed in Vung Tau averages from 40-80Mb per second, which is 7 times higher than the average speed of 3G.
Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung, General Director of Viettel Telecom, also said: "We are ready to popularize 4G service as soon as we are licensed".
The carrier's representative also stated that during the first week of testing (from December 12th to December 18th), Viettel organized 6 experience points at shopping malls, supermarkets, and Viettel stores in the province. Viettel chose Vung Tau City as the testing site for 4G service because it is a key economic, financial, cultural, and tourism center in the southern region.

Meanwhile, representatives of two other carriers, VinaPhone and MobiFone, also announced that they are completing the final tasks to commence testing.
4G is the 4th generation mobile data transmission technology, allowing maximum transmission speeds of up to 1-1.5 Gigabits per second, which is hundreds of times faster than the tens of megabits speed of the current Get a free network. The carriers are announcing the trial deployment of 4G in the context of the mobile data service in Vietnam developing strongly in recent years in terms of subscriber numbers, but not highly rated in terms of transmission speed.
The leadership of the Ministry of Information and Communications stated that they will allow carriers to commercially exploit the service in 2019. According to regulations, trial deployment allows each carrier to operate in 3 provinces and cities, in line with their telecommunications infrastructure status.
