Does the airline you are flying with have wifi?
This depends on the airline, but you can check on their website. This service is still new and many airlines advertise it as a competitive advantage. Because many customers prefer to have wifi to use rather than other amenities.
However, even if the airline you bought a ticket from offers wifi service on the plane, not every flight has wifi. You should check the flight information carefully to know for sure. Usually, wide-body planes like Airbus A330, A380 or Boeing 777, 747, 787 will have wifi. Because these are planes that usually fly long distances from 6 to tens of hours.
Smaller planes like Airbus A310, Boeing 737 usually fly short domestic routes (up to 6 hours) are less likely to be equipped with wifi. Because the wifi broadcasting system on planes is very expensive, costing over $100,000. Or wifi on domestic planes is usually only available for business class.

You can check if there is a wifi service icon on your ticket before booking. If you book through an agent or intermediary, ask them carefully. Or you can call the airline's hotline to ask for the most accurate information.
Note: in some areas there is no wifi signal, so when the plane passes through, you will also lose the connection. These areas are usually announced by the airline.
How is the cost of using Wi-Fi on airplanes?
All airlines require you to pay before using Wi-Fi. You will need a Visa or Mastercard to pay, as cash is not accepted. There are 3 main ways of charging as follows:
- Pay by access time, unlimited usage (Usually from 30 minutes - 24 hours). Eg: you pay $5 for 1 hour of use or pay $30 for 24 hours.
- Limited data usage, unlimited time. For example, you pay $20 for 100MB, and if you run out, you buy more.
- Limited both time and data usage. This is quite inconvenient. Eg: you pay $15 for 500MB for 8 hours.

The first method is the most comfortable to use, the other 2 methods are very annoying because of limited usage time and data. For example, if you are watching a movie or downloading something and it gets interrupted, it's really frustrating. Furthermore, if you buy a time-based package, you can pause the connection, and the time will be frozen instead of being deducted. If you have any questions, please ask the flight attendant.
According to reference prices online, the cost of using Wi-Fi on some airlines ranges from $2.75 - $49.95. These are the prices for airlines such as Vietnam Airlines; Air Canada, AirTran, Alaska Airlines, British Airways, American Airlines; China Airlines...
You will be limited to using Wi-Fi on only 1 device at a time. If you want to use another device, you will have to disconnect to switch devices. If you don't know how, please ask the flight attendant.
