Suvarnabhumi Airport is located 28 km east of Bangkok. Suvarnabhumi International Airport, also known as the new Bangkok International Airport, replaced the old Bangkok International Airport in Bangkok, Thailand. This airport is located in Racha Thewa, Bang Phli District, Samut Prakan Province, 25 km east of the capital Bangkok. It is currently the largest airport in Thailand.
Not only is it the largest airport in Thailand, Suvarnabhumi is also ranked 18th among the world's busiest airports. It covers an area of 32.8 km² and serves over 45 million passengers per year, with the capacity to be upgraded to serve 150 million passengers annually. After many postponements of the terminals, this airport had its first test flight on September 15, 2006, and officially began operations on September 28, 2006, becoming the Thai airport chosen by many international tourists.
Suvarnabhumi Airport has two runways, 3,700m and 4,000m long. It is the airport in Thailand with the world's tallest air traffic control tower (132.2m) and the world's largest single terminal (563,000m²).

Suvarnabhumi Airport is currently the largest transit hub in Southeast Asia. International flights to Europe, the Americas, and Africa from Vietnam often transit at this Thai airport.
