The Samsung SFG-D0100 is Samsung's first 5G home router, bringing next-generation wireless services to homes and offices. A millimeter-wave wireless router expected to be used with Verizon's 5G network in the US, the SFG-D0100 5G mmWave router includes 64 antennas on a beam-forming 2x2 MIMO array, including support for 27.5GHz to 28.35GHz bands, plus Bluetooth LE – but there appears to be no built-in 802.11 functionality, suggesting that it will require a separate Wi-Fi router, much like some cable modems. Samsung warns users to keep the devices at least eight inches away from people, in line with FCC RF exposure guidelines.

In Verizon's commercial trial tests, 5G fixed broadband could deliver download speeds exceeding 1.4Gbps and upload speeds of 600Mbps at distances of 1000 feet (304.8 meters). Within 1000 to 2000 feet (304.8 to 609.6 meters), download speeds below 1.4Gbps and upstream speeds of over 400Mbps could also be delivered. For connections beyond 2000 feet (609.6 meters), maximum downstream speeds could still exceed 1Gbps. The Samsung SFG-D0100 5G router will help the US's leading carrier deliver fixed 5G wireless service—high-speed wireless service that could only be accessed at home or the office with cable modem-like devices—that it believes will challenge cable internet and TV providers.
